March Board of Review is for the following items only:
1) Dispute recent value assessment (not the property tax amount but the assessed value). This is an evaluation dispute. Must show BOR (Board of Review) how you got to the estimated assessment and be specific about what is being requested from the Board as far as a reduction and how it was configured. Must submit L-4029 and supporting documentation.
2) Hardship Exemption. (can be done at March, July or December BOR) Hardship/Financial Application. There are specific income guidelines that are followed. Must hand in L-4029 and income taxes for anyone in the home that is over the age of 18. If taxes are not filed because they do not have to be, an affidavit stating this for each person over the age of 18 in the home.
3) Veteran’s Disability Exemption. (Can be done at March, July or December BOR) Veteran’s 100% disabled Vet (or unmarried widowed spouse of a disabled Vet) are eligible. Must have L-4029 & form from Veteran’s Affairs showing paid benefits at 100% disability.
*PRE (Primary Residence Exemption) can be submitted in July and December BOR. This can be in effect for current and previous year.
